| 2323 | Enos, Glen M. Age 84, died peacefully on December 6, 2010 after a long illness with Alzhei- mer's disease. Glen was born on a farm in Vassar, Michigan. As a young man he served as a missionary educator in Congo until 1964. He was the former principle of Marcy Open School in Southeast Minneapolis and served at several other schools in the Minneapolis School System until his retirement in 1987. He was a gentle loving man who loved nature, gardening, his cabin on Lake Vermilion, and taking long walks. He was a dedicated volunteer to Meals on Wheels and committed to social justice. He will be remembered by many children who learned about the power of peace by his example. He is survived by his life partner, Ed Reed; brother, Richard (Lorraine) Enos; his children, Rebecca J. Enos (Patricia F. Walker, MD), Mark S. Enos, (Richard Newcome), Beth Beckman (Kenneth Wolfe), Mary Grace (Joe) Deters, Ruth Angelyn Enos (Peter Fleischhacker); his grandchildren, Jack Enos, Tahna (Jason) Rurup, Claire Deters; his former wife, Marian Stewart Enos, and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruby (Osgerby) and Lee Enos; his sisters, Pearl (Clayton) George, Beulah (Williams) Eby, Ruth (Don) Williams; his brother, Robert (Doris) Enos, and his special friend, Mary Forberg. The family wishes to especially thank the staff at Afton Care and Lighthouse of Mahtomedi for the tender care they provided for him. There will be a celebration of Glen's life December 15, 2010 at 2 pm at Lake Harriet Methodist Church, 49th & Chowen, in Mpls. There will be a service and burial at Riverside Cemetery in his home town, Vassar, Michigan, on December 18, 2010 at 12 pm. Memorials are preferred to the University of Minnesota Arboretum. | 2324 | Enos, Marian Jean (Stewart) Born in Dugger, Indiana, August 3, 1924. Died December 15, 2015 in St. Paul, Minnesota. Proceeded in death by her former husband, Glen Enos and is survived by her life partner, Nancy Massman, her children, Rebecca Enos (Patricia Walker), Mark Enos (Richard Newcome), Bethany Beckman (Rick Krotzer), Marigrace Deters (Joe), Ruth Angelyn Enos (Peter Fleischhacker), her three grandchildren Jack Enos (Sara Childers), Tahna Rurup (Jason), Claire Deters (Nate Svendson), and great grandson, Cael Rurup. What an inspiration she was to us. Her poems will live on to comfort and inspire us. She shared her wisdom, her fierce loyalty to those she loved, and an unwavering commitment to social justice. She was a daunting Scrabble opponent, a voracious reader, a beautiful writer. She loved April Fools Day. Her humor and mischief lightened our lives. Marian was a life long student and scholar. She completed her nurses training at Epworth Memorial Hospital in Southbend, Indiana. She attended Moody Bible School. After raising her children she returned to college at the University of Minnesota completing her Bachelors and Masters degrees in Nursing. At age 60 she finished her Doctorate of Adult Education. Marian and Glen Enos served as missionaries in what is now the Democratic Republic of Congo from 1954 to 1964. In the 1970's she went back to practicing nursing first in the hospital and later in a residential home for persons with seizure disorders. Marian held several teaching positions at Metropolitan State University, South Dakota State University and Augsburg College. Marian loved nothing better than spending time at her beloved cabin in Wisconsin, sharing it's peace and tranquility with her family and friends. "All things come to pass but linger on in other things barely recognizable." A celebration of her life is planned for Thursday, January 21, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. Memorial service followed by informal reception will be held at Roselawn Chapel, 803 West Larpenteur Avenue, Roseville, MN 55113 In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Alzheimer's Association of Minnesota or the University of Minnesota School of Nursing Foundation.
