| 2505 | Dorothy Chase 11. Oktober 1929 - 27. September 2012 Dorothy verstarb am 27. September im St. Alphonsus Hospital in Boise, nachdem sie wenige Tage zuvor einen Schlaganfall erlitten hatte. Sie wurde am 11. Oktober 1929 in Hugoton, Kansas, geboren und war die Tochter von Ralph und Lillie Bailey. Während der Dust Bowl wanderte ihre Familie von Kansas nach Westen durch Colorado aus und ließ sich in der Meridianregion nieder, als sie 13 Jahre alt war. Sie besuchte die Blue Valley Grade School, die Locust Grove School und machte 1947 ihren Abschluss an der Meridian High School als Vizepräsidentin der Oberstufe. Als Vizepräsidentin der Klasse half sie bei der Organisation vieler gut besuchter Klassentreffen. Nach ihrem Abschluss zog sie nach Boise, wo sie bei Sherwin Williams & Pacific Finance arbeitete. 1950 heiratete sie Cpl. Keith Chase, der auf dem Luftwaffenstützpunkt Mtn. Home stationiert war. 1951, als die Familie in Sacramento stationiert war, wurde ihr erster Sohn Kevin geboren. Nach einem weiteren Umzug nach Fort Worth, Texas, kehrte sie 1954 nach Boise zurück. 1956 zog sie in die Scott Street, wo sie für den Rest ihres Lebens leben sollte. Ihr zweiter Sohn, Todd, wurde 1960 in Boise geboren. Im Laufe ihres Lebens machte sie eine abwechslungsreiche Karriere: Sie war Miteigentümerin des Copa Dance Studios und von Orchard Pet Supply, sie arbeitete unter anderem für Artsign Design, Idaho Senior News und das Amerikanische Rote Kreuz. Sie war Buchhalterin, Büroleiterin, Immobilienmaklerin, Reiseplanerin/-führerin und Personalvermittlerin für Blutspenden. 1970 belegte sie drei Astrologie-Kurse am YMCA und begann ein Hobby, das den Rest ihres Lebens prägen sollte. Sie wurde zur Sekretärin des Astro-Listers Clubs gewählt und begann, sich mit Freunden, Familie und anderen zu beraten, wodurch sie zu einer der führenden Astrologinnen in der Gegend von Boise wurde. Sie erhielt oft Anrufe von ihrer Familie und vielen Bekannten, die Rat in Lebensfragen suchten. Ihre andere Lieblingsbeschäftigung war es, Puzzles zusammenzusetzen - sie war anscheinend immer mitten in der Fertigstellung eines Puzzles. Ihr Leben lang suchte sie nach Wissen - in der Schreibschule, im Kunstunterricht, im Computerunterricht und in der Erwachsenenbildung in Bereichen von Mathematik bis hin zu UFOs. Sie interessierte sich für die tieferen Geheimnisse des Universums - Religion, Philosophie und Mystik. Sie wird als witzig, intelligent und einfallsreich in Erinnerung bleiben, vor allem aber als liebevolle Mutter, Freundin und Führerin. Sie hinterlässt ihre Söhne Kevin (Cheri) Chase aus Eagle und Todd (Arlene) Chase aus Weston, Massachusetts. Zu ihren Enkelkindern gehören Kevins Sohn Kristopher und Todds Söhne Michael und Bryan. Dorothy celebrated her birthday on Washington's birthday, Feb.22, but she was born the 5th. After her mother died, Mabel was surrendered by her sick father to the New England Home for Little Wanderers where she lived for one year. After her father's death, Mabel was adopted by Franklin Weeks Hopkins and his wife Arvilla Hannah Noyes Hopkins of Somerville, Massachusetts, and her name was changed to Dorothy Shepherd Hopkins. Her sister Florence was adopted by the Sturdevant family in Somerville, and the sisters went to school together and always knew they were birth sisters. Leland Winchenbach attended school in Maine, and then moved to Somerville, Massachusetts, where he was a bookkeeper and lived in a boarding house across the street from his future wife. They met and married in Somerville, 1 May 1911, and had two daughters born in Massachusetts, before moving to Waldoboro, Maine. He was born in Waldoboro on July 18, 1955, the son of Otis and Gladys (Cushman) benner, and was a 1974 graduate of Medomak Valley High School there. He married Wendy Ellen Pires in Camden on May 12, 1984. Benner worked at Penobscot Bay Medical Center from 1977 until 1991 in the housekeeping department and also in central supply. He loved music and dancing. He was a member of Rockland Lodge of Elks. In addition to his wife of Rockland and his parents of Waldoboro, he is survived by two daughters, Amy and Maria Benner of Friendship, two brothers, Bryan and Craig Benner and a sister Emily Benner, all of Waldoboro; a grandson, Douglas J Benner of Friendship; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. Sat., Dec. 14, at Littlefield Memorial Baptist Church, corner of US Route One and Waldo Avenue, Rockland. Betty wurde am 26. Februar 1924 in Rock Island als Tochter von Emil und Theresa Klein geboren. Betty ist eine hochgebildete Frau, die ihr Studium am Marycrest College mit einem BA und MA in Pädagogik abgeschlossen hat und ihren Doktortitel von der Walden University erhalten hat. Betty verbrachte ihre Erwachsenenjahre als Grundschullehrerin. Sie unterrichtete in den Bezirken Briar Bluff und Erie School und ging 1980 in den Ruhestand. Mert und Betty verbrachten ihre Ruhestandstage damit, die Welt zu bereisen. Betty und Merton M. Whitted heirateten 1948 in der Sacred Heart Catholic Church auf Rock Island. Mit Betty an Merts Seite während seiner fünf Amtszeiten als Bürgermeisterin in Geneseo leistete Betty unzählige Stunden ehrenamtlicher Arbeit in zivilen Organisationen, um das Leben in Geneseo zu verbessern. Bettys tiefer katholischer Glaube hielt sie in der katholischen Kirche St. Pius als Lektorin, Religionslehrerin und eucharistische Pfarrerin sowie als Mitglied des Gemeinderats aktiv. Zu den Mitgliedschaften gehörten die Altar- und Rosenkranzgesellschaft der Katholischen Kirche St. Pius X., Daughters of Isabella, Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Allouez Council No. 658 Knights of Columbus Auxiliary, Beta Sigma Phi, Delta Kappa Gamma (Lehrer ehrt Schwesternschaft), Moline American Legion Auxiliary Post 246 und Katholischer Sozialdienst. Empfänger des Ehrenpreises der St. Ambrose University 2003. Betty war für viele eine anonyme Wohltäterin. Sie wird von ihrem Sohn Dr. Michael (Kathy) J. | 2519 | Dr. Clinton Frederick "Fred" Lavender died November 5, 2013 in Panama City, Florida, at 91 years, after a brief illness. He was the loving husband of Jeanne Lavender, devoted father of Jane/Bob, Mary/Milton, and Patricia. He is also survived by his adored grandchildren, Anne and Beth/James, Emma, Clark/Shanna and Nathan, and great-granddaughter Madeline, and by his protégé, Maya. He was predeceased by Mary Ann Lavender, his first wife and Anne, his second daughter. Fred was a founding partner in the first pediatric medical practice in Sandusky, Ohio, and was recognized and respected for decades of professional and volunteer service in Sandusky and in Chipley, Florida, where he spent the later years of his retirement. He was born in 1922 in Mansfield, Ohio, to a horse and buggy doctor and his wife. Fred achieved Phi Beta Kappa and medical society honors in both undergraduate and medical schools. He served in the U.S. Army, then moved to Sandusky, opening the first Pediatric practice in Erie County with his childhood friend Bill Seiler. After retirement Fred's wife, Mary Ann died in 1992. He met and married Jeanne and moved to Florida. Fred began his commitment to volunteerism in his childhood, achieving Eagle Scout. As an adult he volunteered in Ohio and Florida with both adults and children in literacy, libraries, music/arts, environmental issues in local and state parks, as a Guardian ad Litem, foster kids, and Take Stock in Children, as well as a medical volunteer with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, polio vaccine campaign, and hospital boards. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 30th, at 2pm at St Mathews Episcopal Church on Hwy 90 in Chipley Florida, where he lived the last 20 years with Jeanne. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be sent to your favorite charity. Dr. Lavender was Elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. | 2520 | Dr. Gardner Ludwig verstirbt heute früh. Er erliegt einer Lungenentzündung, der Krankheit, an der vor einigen Tagen seine Frau starb - Das betagte Paar hatte gerade seinen 60. Hochzeitstag gefeiert - Ein kurzer Abriss seines Lebens. Dr. Gardner Ludwig verstarb heute Morgen um halb drei in seinem Haus in der Congress Street. Am 28. Januar feierten Dr. Ludwig und Frau Ludwig ihre Goldene Hochzeit, und am 9. Februar verstarb Frau Ludwig an einer Lungenentzündung, die vermutlich durch eine Erkältung verursacht wurde, die sie sich bei der Feier zugezogen hatte. Dr. Ludwig war zur Zeit der Goldenen Hochzeit ziemlich geschwächt, und der Tod seiner Frau schwächte ihn noch mehr. Er erkrankte an einer Lungenentzündung und konnte sich in seinem hohen Alter auch nicht mehr erholen. Er trauerte zutiefst über den Verlust seiner Frau, die sechzig Jahre lang seine ständige Begleiterin gewesen war, und wollte gehen. Der Tod des betagten Paares so kurz nach der Feier einer 80-jährigen Ehe hat etwas sehr Rührendes. Der Tod trennte sie nur für ein paar Tage. Es ist seltsam, dass Dr. und Mrs. Ludwig und Mr. Oren Ring, ein Nachbar und lebenslanger Freund, innerhalb weniger Tage starben. Dr. Ludwig hatte deutsche Vorfahren und war der Enkel von Captain Jacob Ludwig, einem der deutschen Auswanderer, die sich 1748 in Broad Bay, Waldoboro, niederließen. Jacob Ludwig war ein robuster Mann und Sergeant im Franzosen- und Indianerkrieg und Captain in der Revolutionsarmee. Nach dem Krieg war er der erste Abgeordnete von Waldoboro am Gericht von Massachusetts. Sein Sohn, Col. Jacob Ludwig, Dr. Ludwigs Vater, war viele Jahre lang Abgeordneter von Waldoboro, sowohl im Parlament von Massachusetts als auch nachdem Maine ein Staat wurde. Er war 25 Jahre lang Stadtrat von Waldoboro und über 30 Jahre lang Hilfssheriff im Lincoln County. Dr. Ludwig wurde im Juni 1812 in Waldoboro geboren und ist heute 84 Jahre alt. Er besuchte die städtischen Schulen, studierte Medizin und schloss 1833 die Bowdoin Medical School ab. Seine fünf Brüder waren alle Ärzte. Dr. Ludwig ging zunächst nach Rockland, wo er fast zwanzig Jahre lang praktizierte. Vor etwa 45 Jahren kam er in diese Stadt, wo er seither lebt, geehrt und respektiert von allen, die ihn kennen, und immer einen hohen Rang in der medizinischen Berufsgruppe einnimmt. Dr. Ludwigs langes Leben war außergewöhnlich ruhig. Er hat sehr wenige öffentliche Ämter bekleidet, wenn überhaupt, und ist in der Öffentlichkeit nie besonders aufgefallen. In Kriegszeiten war Dr. Ludwig als Rekrutenarzt tätig, und so mancher Soldat verdankt seinen militärischen Werdegang der Empfehlung des Arztes für den Dienst. Vor vielen Jahren wurde Dr. Ludwig beim Überqueren der Gleise der Grand Truck Railway von einem Zug erfasst und erlitt dabei eine so schwere Verletzung an einem seiner Beine, dass eine Amputation notwendig wurde. Am 28. Januar 1836 heiratete Dr. Gardner Ludwig aus Rockland im Haus der Eltern der Braut in Searport Miss Elizabeth Othrop, die Enkelin von Thomas Weghty. Die Zeremonie wurde von einem methodistischen Geistlichen in Searsport durchgeführt. Der Dr. hinterlässt keine Kinder. Die Beerdigung wird später bekannt gegeben. The Portland Daily Press: 17. | 2521 | DR. JOHN B. GLESMANN AGE: 88 EAST AMWELL TOWNSHIP John B. Glesmann, M.D., age 88 years, of East Amwell Township, died on Saturday, (Jan. 3, 2009) at his residence. Born in Rome, N.Y., Nov. 9, 1920, son of the late Louis G. and Eleanor Brainerd Glesmann, he had resided in East Amwell Township for the past 14 years, having previously lived in Somerset and Bridgewater. Dr. Glesmann received his B.A. from Dartmouth College and then attained his M.D. from New York University School of Medicine. He was the retired director of the department of anesthesiology of Somerset Medical Center, Somerville, where he worked for over 50 years. He also worked for 15 years concurrently at the Carrier Clinic, Belle Mead. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, Dr. Glesmann was honorably discharged at the rank of captain in 1948. A long-time member of the American Medical Association, he was also a member of the U.S. Trotting Association and greatly enjoyed horses and sailing. Glesmann, M.D., age 88 years, of East Amwell Township, died on Saturday, (Jan. 3, 2009) at his residence. Born in Rome, N.Y., Nov. 9, 1920, son of the late Louis G. and Eleanor Brainerd Glesmann, he had resided in East Amwell Township for the past 14 years, having previously lived in Somerset and Bridgewater. Dr. Glesmann received his B.A. from Dartmouth College and then attained his M.D. from New York University School of Medicine. He was the retired director of the department of anesthesiology of Somerset Medical Center, Somerville, where he worked for over 50 years. He also worked for 15 years concurrently at the Carrier Clinic, Belle Mead. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, Dr. Glesmann was honorably discharged at the rank of captain in 1948. A long-time member of the American Medical Association, he was also a member of the U.S. Trotting Association and greatly enjoyed horses and sailing. He is happily married to his wife, Anna, and he is a very proud father to his three sons Michael, Johnathan, and Christopher. Dr. Whitted was an associate dentist in Naperville, Illinois for three years before opening his own practice in South Elgin, Illinois in May of 2006. Dr. Whitted and his family have fallen in love with the Fox Valley area and are proud to call it home. Living within minutes of the office offers a convenience and flexibility to both himself and his patients. Dr. Whitted and his family are involved in the local community and he loves running into patients around town; whether it be at community event, Saint Patrick’s school or church activity, a high school sporting event, or even while out to dinner at a local restaurant. Dr. Whitted is a member of the American Dental Association (ADA), Illinois State Dental Society (ISDS), Chicago Dental Society (CDS) and the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD). | 2524 | DR. R. F. LUDWIG, DENTIST, TAKEN BY DEATH AT 81 Dr. Roscoe F. Ludwig, one of Chicago's leading dentists, died yesterday at his home in La Grange after a brief illness. He was 81 years old. Dr. Ludwig was known as La Grange's oldest commuter. For fifty years he had made the trip from there to his Chicago offices. He came to Chicago in 1863 from Maine and was graduated from Rush Medical college, from Northwestern and the Cincinnati Dental college. He was one of the founders of the Chicago Dental college and lectured there for many years. He was a veteran of the civil war. Dr. Ludwig is survived by a widow, Emma, and three children, Mrs. Alex C. Dallach, Mrs. H. A. Staley, and Leon Ludwig. Funeral service will be held tomorrow in Emmanuel church, La Grange.
