Burial will be Thursday at 1 PM, MT, at Black Hills National Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will be from 2-4 PM Tuesday at the funeral home and starting at 6 PM at the church with a Scriptural Wake Service at 7 PM. George passed away Friday, January 27, 2017, at the Mobridge Regional Hospital. Rienhold George Baer was born July 29, 1938 to Reinhold and Ann (Blondo) Baer in Mobridge, South Dakota. He grew up and attended school in Mobridge and graduated from Mobridge High School in 1957. He joined the U.S. Navy in February, 1958 and was honorably discharged in 1962. He met "C.L." at the USO in Boston, MA and on June 29, 1963 they married at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. To this union two daughters were born. George worked at the Standard Station in Mobridge and then worked for Coca-Cola for two years as a salesman in the west river area. He then went to work for Val Goldade's Service Station and in 1975 he started working for the Old Milwaukee Railroad and later Burlington Northern in Edgemont and Alliance, NE. He retired from the railroad on July 29, 2000. He enjoyed fishing and piddling in his garage. He made his own lures and gave them to his grandchildren, other family and friends. George was known as the local "candy man", he handed out Werther's candy to ladies who held out their hand. He enjoyed mowing his lawn and also his neighbor's. He loved his grandchildren and enjoyed taking them fishing. He had a dog named "Jake" and affectionately called him a "soup hound" and he went everywhere with George. When George worked on the railroad his nickname was "Smokey" and his siblings called him "Snooks". Which is why he gave his daughters and grandkids nicknames too. George was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge where he served as governor for a time and also volunteered as a bartender. George was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Larry, one grandson Ty Kraft and his beloved dog Jake. | 2791 | George Frederick Porter, der am 17. Februar in Camden starb, wurde am 30. Oktober 1848 in Lincolnville als Sohn von John A. und Betsey Jane Dunton Porter geboren. Er besuchte die städtischen Schulen und schloss anschließend die staatliche Normalschule in Castine ab. Er unterrichtete mehrere Jahre und ging dann nach Camden. Zwölf Jahre lang arbeitete er in der Getreidemühle von Camden. Nach seinem Ausscheiden aus der Mühle stieg er bei Herrn James Ludwig in den Lebensmittelhandel ein, blieb dort aber nur kurze Zeit. Dann verließ er die Firma und widmete sich der Malerei. Dies blieb ihm bis 1908, als er seinen ehemaligen Partner auszahlte und bis zu seinem Tod ein erfolgreiches Geschäft führte. In allen Geschäftsangelegenheiten genoss er den Respekt seiner Konkurrenten und wurde allgemein als Mann von höchster Integrität angesehen. 1891 heiratete Herr Porter Miss Meda L., die Tochter von Captain und Mary R. Ludwig Pendleton aus Lincolnville, Maine, die ihn mit einem Sohn und zwei Töchtern überlebte. Herr Porter schloss sich 1902 der Chestnut Street Baptist Church an. Am Tag seiner Erkrankung nahm er am Morgengottesdienst und an der Sonntagsschule teil. Er blieb seinem christlichen Leben treu, war ein guter Nachbar, ein liebevoller Ehemann und ein hingebungsvoller Vater. Viele seiner Freunde werden ihn vermissen. Die Beerdigung fand am 20. Februar in seinem ehemaligen Wohnhaus statt. Pfarrer S. E. Frobock leitete die Zeremonie. Die Amity Lodge, F. & A. Er unternahm gern viele Ausflüge nach Foxwoods und Twin Rivers und spielte gerne Karten mit Freunden. Er genoss viele Jahre lang sein Camp auf dem State Line Campground. Seine Frau Ellen „Janie“ (Nicholas) Vaillancourt, mit der er 50 Jahre verheiratet war, starb 2007. Er hinterlässt fünf Kinder, George N. She was born Oct. 20, 1908, in Crawford, the daughter of the late Ernest G. and Gertrude (Roberts) Seavey. Mrs. Carlow attended grade school in Crawford and graduated from Washington Academy, East Machias. She furthered her education at Salem Hospital, Salem, Mass., where she became a registered nurse. On Nov. 2, 1935, she married Otis Carlow of Alexander. They settled in Wesley, where for the next 60 years they worked side by side, raised their family and lived the remainder of their lives. Otis Carlow passed in February 1994. She worked for Dr. John F. Hanson as a registered nurse for many years in Machias. Mrs. Carlow was the town clerk of Wesley for more than 30 years, where she also acted as the health officer. Mrs. Carlow along with her husband, Otis, built, owned and operated Carlow Cabins and Restaurant, Wesley, for many years. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star, Machias. She loved fishing and also liked knitting, sewing and gardening. Family members include her sons, Richard Carlow and his wife, Kim, of Wesley and Paul Carlow and his wife, Lani, of Mayo, Md.; grandchildren, Walter O. Carlow of Winslow, Cathy L. Roberts of Winslow, Lani Lynn Nutting of Japan and Melissa Ann Carlow of Mayo, Md.; eight great-grand-children; her siblings, Orris Seavey of South Princeton, Doris Perkins of Baileyville, Helen Sinko of Bethleham, Pa., Neil Seavey of Crawford, Pike Seavey of Alexander and Jean Bonner of Upper Gage Town, New Brunswick; many nieces, nephews and cousins. | 2799 | Geraldine Estella Hannan Winchenbach, 89 of Waldoboro, Maine passed away at her home on November 18, 2020 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Union Maine on March 23, 1931, the daughter of Vivian & Estella Daris Hannan of Union. Growing up in the small community of Union, she attended local school where she participated in many activities, including being a cheer leader. In 1961 Geraldine attended "Beauty School" in Portland while raising her family and juggling many responsibilities. Soon after graduating, she put out her sign "Gerry's beauty Salon" and became the neighborhood beautician turning customers into extended family of friends. Geraldine was great at listening to everyone, during the good times and the bad times. She always sent her customers out the door of her shop looking prettier and more encouraged. Some of her favorite hobbies, were making donuts and pies to share at the local fairs and events @ Waldoboro Days. Roller Skating was another past time she enjoyed - while dancing to the music on her skates around the rink. A pair of her skates still hang in the closet, they helped her to recall sweet memories of her younger years. Knitting and Crocheting kept her hands busy making afghans for family members when she wasn't rolling perms. "Gerry" as she was affectionally known is survived by her daughters Evelyn Shover of Nobleboro, Valerie Winchenbach of Waldoboro, Sons; Reggie Winchenbach (Kathy) of Searsport, Ricky Winchenbach (Brenda) of upper Marlboro, MD., Six grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren.
