Grethel P. Sukeforth, 82, died Thursday, September 30 at Fieldcrest Manor in Waldoboro. She was born November 23, 1916 in Waldoboro, the daughter of Franklin and Lottie Pitcher. She grew up in Waldoboro and graduated from Waldoboro High School. She worked at the Waldoboro Theatre. She worked as a clerk at the old Waldoboro Post Office, currently the Waldoboro Public Library and also at the current post office and retired after 34 years of service. She was a member of the Sweetland Cemetery Association board. She loved playing bridge, cooking and cleaning her home. She was predeceased by her firt husband, Nelson Winchenbaugh, brother Carl Pitcher, and twin sister, Barbara Learson. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Clyde Sukeforth of Waldoboro, step-daughter, Helen and her husband Ernest Zimmerman of Dallas, Texas, nieces Grethel Beaucage of Waldoboro, Barbara and her husband Stuart MacIntire of Andover, Mass., nephews Ronald and his wife Marilyn Pitcher of Friendship, Wayne and his wife Brenda Simmons of Waldoboro, several great nieces and nephews; 4 step-grandchildren and several step great grandchildren. Visiting hours 2-4 and 6-8 p. m. Monday, October 4 at the Hall Funeral Home in Waldoboro. Funeral services 10 a. m. Tuesday, October 5 at the Hall Funeral Home in Waldoboro with Rev. Robert Dorr officiating. Burial will follow in teh Sweetland Cemetery in Waldoboro. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to teh American Cancer Society, 52 Federal St. Brunswick, ME 04011. Arrangements under the direction of Hall Funeral Home, Waldoboro.

3017 Guilford - Percy Roy West, 90, of Carriage Road in Guilford, died unexpectedly Thursday morning, June 2, 2022 at his home following a period of declining health.

Mr. West was born in Wiscasset, Maine on November 19, 1931, the son of Fred and Beulah (Sprague) West. He was raised and educated in Wiscasset.

A resident of Brattleboro since 1950, he had been employed at the Brattleboro Retreat where he retired from as Food Production Manager in 1995 following 45 faithful years with the Retreat.

Of his leisure time activities, Roy enjoyed fishing, woodworking, puttering around his home and time spent with his family.

On October 13, 1951 in Gardiner, Maine he was married to Laura Deuso who survives. Roy and Laura celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this past October.

Besides his faithful and devoted wife of 70 years, he leaves: a daughter, Linda Tom and her husband Gary of Fremont, CA; one son, Gary West and his wife Barbara of Westminster; five grandchildren, Amber West, Leisha West, Kaitlyn Whitham and her husband Devin, Eric Tom and Phillip Tom; five great grandchildren, Landon, Kennedy, Claire, Alyson and Benjamin; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by four brothers, Clarence, Fred, Jr., Robert and Glen West.

Graveside services will be conducted in Greenlawn Cemetery in Wiscassett where he will be buried in the West family lot.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Roy’s name may be made to: Rescue, Inc., P.O. Box 593, Brattleboro, VT 05301; or to the Windham County Humane Society, P.O. Box 397, Brattleboro, VT 05302.
