| 5011 | Philip Mank Obituary MANK PHILIP JAMESON, JR. died at his home Tuesday, February 19th following a brief illness. Mr. Mank was born on October 9, 1931 in Miami, Florida. He grew up in Coral Gables, where he graduated from Ponce de Leon High School. He received a BSBA degree in Accounting from the University of Florida in 1955. He was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity, president of Alpha Kappa Psi business fraternity. Mr. Mank was an examiner for the Federal Home Loan Bank Board of Greensboro, N.C. for eight years. From 1962-1969 he was senior vice- president of Guaranty Federal Savings and Loan Association in St. Petersburg. In 1969 he moved to Vero Beach where he was senior vice president of First Federal Saving and Loan Association, which subsequently became Indian River Federal, and later, Florida Federal. He retired from Florida Federal in 1987. Mr. Mank joined the Vero Beach Press Journal as Treasurer in 1987. He retired for the second time in 1996. He was a member of the Vero Beach Rotary Club for 32 years. He served as Assistant to the District Governor 4 times and was a Paul Harris Fellow. Mr. Mank was Treasurer of the Downtown Merchants Association for ten years. He served on the Indian River County Library Advisory Board for 16 years, and was a member of the Space Needs Committee. He was a member of the Vero Beach Concert Association for the 20 years and was in charge of artist selection for most of that time. He was a member of the Riverside Theatre Endowment Fund for 2 years and served one year as President. He served on the Education Committee of the Center for the Arts for several years. Mr. Mank is survived by his wife of 42 years, Joan, two sons, Rodney and Allen, 2 grandchildren, Russell Mank and Meredith Mank, and one brother, Layton Mank of Coral Gables. A visitation will be from 6-8PM Friday, February 22nd at: COX-GIFFORD Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:30PM on Saturday, February 23rd at Trinity Episcopal Church. | 5014 | Phillip A. Jura, 29, starb unerwartet am 17. Dezember 2009 im Sebasticook Valley Hospital in Pittsfield. Er wurde am 1. Februar 1980 in Rockport geboren und lebte sein ganzes Leben in Midcoast, Maine. Phillip machte 1998 seinen Abschluss an der Medomak Valley High School. Über zehn Jahre lang war er als Strafvollzugsbeamter im Staatsgefängnis von Maine beschäftigt. Freunde und Kollegen nannten ihn liebevoll "Peanut". Phillip liebte es, mit seinem Vater zu jagen und zu angeln. Sein erstes Reh war im Alter von 13 Jahren ein "Monsterbock", sein zweiter in der vergangenen Jagdsaison. Er liebte es auch, Bowling zu spielen, die Patriots zu schauen und mit Familie und Freunden mit seinem ATV zu fahren. Er war immer bereit, jemandem zu helfen, wenn er Hilfe brauchte. Er liebte das Leben und scherzte mit jedem, den er traf. Er war wirklich einer dieser Menschen, die als "überlebensgroß" bekannt sind. Phillip wird von allen, die ihn kannten und liebten, zutiefst vermisst werden. Er hinterlässt seine beiden wunderschönen Töchter, Arianna Joy Jura aus Rockport und Makennah Brianne Jura aus Waldoboro. She was formerly of Southington, Conn., where she had resided for five years. She married Gordon L. Sidelinger, Dec. 27, 1944. Born in Waldoboro Aug. 11, 1923, she was the daughter of William G. and Lillian Genthner Mank. She was a graduate of the class of 1940, Waldoboro High School, a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, Southington, a member and Star Point of Frederica Chapter 110 Order of the Eastern Star, Plainview, Conn. Survivors include her husband, Gordon Sidelinger of Gray; her mother Lillian Manks John of Coopers Mills; a son Kevin P. Sidelinger of Halibut Cove, Alaska; two daughters, Mrs. Edward (Candice) Asklar, and Mrs. Michael (Mala) Moriaty, both of Southington, a brother, William G. Mank, West Hartford, Conn., three sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Burns and Mrs. Frances Deprey, Southington, and Mrs. Glenys Page, Waldoboro; five grandsons and a granddaughter. Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. from the United Methodist Church, Waldoboro with the Rev. David W. Bell officiating with interment at Levensaler Cemetery. | 5017 | Phyllis Marie Seelbach Sexton, 84, of Shallotte, formerly of Kiawah Island, SC and Watchung, NJ passed away Wednesday, September 25, 2019, in Hospice at Autumn Care of Waynesville, NC. Phyllis was born on January 14, 1935, in Yonkers, NY the daughter of the late Christian Seelbach, Jr. and Marie Laubscher Seelbach. She was the wife of the late John Joseph “Jack” Sexton. After graduating from Cranford High School in New Jersey in 1952, Phyllis attended Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing where she obtained a Nursing Diploma and her Registered Nurse qualification circa 1955. Phyllis and Jack met on St. Patrick’s Day 1958 at a mutual friend’s party and wed the following September. In addition to raising her family in the Watchung Mountains, Phyllis was a staff nurse on 4AB at Overlook Hospital in Summit, NJ, where she enjoyed a long and accomplished career as an Orthopedic Nurse. Phyllis possessed all the qualities of an exceptional staff nurse. Her expertise in Orthopedic Nursing was evident to each new nurse who arrived on the unit! Many would call her their mentor. Phyllis was also greatly respected by the physicians who listened and trusted her patient assessments. Her kind and caring attitude and sense of humor made each work day so enjoyable. She would be remembered as a team leader/charge nurse in those days, but her real joy was at the bedside. She will be missed by all who knew her. Phyllis retired in 1989 after 25 years as a Registered Nurse at Overlook Hospital. Phyllis sang in the church choir at Wilson Memorial Union Church in Watchung, NJ and was a lifelong Christian. She was a skilled pianist and played in churches in her younger days. Upon retirement in 1989, Phyllis and Jack moved to Kiawah Island, SC and relocated to River’s Edge in Shallotte, NC in 2003. During retirement Phyllis excelled in golf and enjoyed spending time with her family on the Carolina beaches, traveling, and cruising the world. Phyllis and Jack set up bluebird trails and homes for purple martins. Surviving are her son, Alan T. Sexton of Reisterstown, MD; daughter Linda M. Sexton of Waynesville, NC; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Mrs. Sexton was preceded in death by her husband John J. “Jack” Sexton; her son John T. Sexton; and a brother Walter C. Seelbach of Scottsdale, AZ. The remains of Phyllis and Jack will be placed with family at Fairview Cemetery, Westfield, NJ on a later date. Dezember 1922 in Waldoboro, Maine, als Tochter des verstorbenen Thomas Winchen-bach und Dorothea Wells, lebte sie die letzten 54 Jahre in Chicopee und zuvor in Maine. Sie war Kommunikantin der St. Patrick's Church. Sie wurde 2007 von ihrem geliebten Ehemann Stanley W. Tarka überlebt. Phyllis hinterlässt ihre liebevolle Tochter Lisa F. Tarka und deren Ehemann Don Gregory aus Chicopee; zwei Schwestern, Ann Severson und Ruth Castner, sowie zwei Brüder, Thomas Winchenbach Jr. und Robert Winchenbach, alle aus Maine; sowie Nichten und Neffen. Ihr ging eine Schwester namens Hazel Hyjek voraus. Eine Trauerfeier für Phyllis findet am Montag, den 23. Juni 2008, um 12 Uhr im Kozikowski Funeral Home, 565 Front St., Chicopee, statt. | 5047 | Porter Raymond "Pat" Whitney died 25 November 2011. He was born in Portland, Maine on 28 August 1926 to Lillian A. Gregor Whitney and James H. Whitney. He grew up in Falmouth, Maine and worked with his father and grandfather on the family boats. During WWII he joined the Merchant Marines and in 1948 enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He spent his 20 year Navy career as an electrician aboard several different ships. After retiring he worked as an electrician for Union Sugar and retired a second time from DeLamar Silver Mine in 1990. After retiring he moved his family to Homedale. Pat is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and held many different callings. He was an avid supporter of Scouting, enjoyed bowling, and was always willing to share his knowledge of the world from his travels. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and his first wife. He is survived by his wife, Dawn; two daughters, Ann and Patti; three sons, Sean, Scott, and Chris; 15 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. A Funeral service will be held at the LDS Church, 708 W. | 5048 | PORTLAND – Linda L. Clark, 60, aus Farmington, verstarb am frühen Morgen des Dienstags, dem 1. März 2011, im Maine Medical Center in Portland. Sie wurde am 9. Mai 1950 in Rockland als Tochter von Milton und Ruth (geb. Grierson) Clark geboren. Schon als junges Mädchen war sie eine begeisterte Reiterin und nahm mit ihrem Morgan-Pferd und -Pony an Turnieren im ganzen Bundesstaat teil. Nach ihrem Abschluss an der Camden-Rockport High School absolvierte sie eine Ausbildung zur Nuklearmedizinerin in Augusta und arbeitete als Röntgenassistentin im Franklin Memorial Hospital, im Inland Hospital in Waterville und im Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. Linda engagierte sich stark im Gemeinwesen und organisierte das TOPS-Programm der Trinity United Methodist Church. Außerdem leistete sie unzählige Stunden ehrenamtliche Arbeit am Skigebiet Titcomb Mountain in Farmington und an örtlichen Schulen. Linda war ein nachdenklicher, freundlicher und großzügiger Mensch und stolze Pflegemutter von zehn Kindern. Zu den Hinterbliebenen gehören ihr Vater Milton Clark und dessen Ehefrau Peggy aus Camden; ihre Geschwister Pamela Beveridge und deren Ehemann Curt aus Sidney mit ihren Kindern Kirstin Ruzzi und deren Ehemann Vincent mit ihren drei Söhnen John, Michael und Alex, Jennifer Churchill und deren Ehemann Jody mit ihren Kindern Aaron und Megan, Joshua Beveridge und dessen Ehefrau Lauren, Wayne Clark und dessen Ehefrau Patricia aus Camden mit seinen Kindern Nicole Denis und deren Ehemann Mickael mit ihren Söhnen Joshua und Harley, Kimberly Williams und deren Ehemann Sheldon Main mit ihren Söhnen Jack und Henry sowie Waynes Sohn Jamie Clark; ihre Stiefsöhne Michael Kelley und Aidan Kaczynski; und ihre Schwägerin Patti Williams Brissette. | 5049 | PORTLAND – Robert Edward Mattson, 76, aus New Gloucester, starb am 7. April nach einem mutigen Kampf gegen den Krebs. Geboren am 10. August 1926 in Boston als Sohn von Elsie Sutinen und Albert Mattson, machte er 1944 seinen Abschluss an der Dorchester High School for Boys. Herr Mattson trat 1944 in die Marine ein, diente während des Zweiten Weltkriegs als Aviation Radioman und wurde am 22. Juni 1946 entlassen. 1947 erwarb er seine Privatpilotenlizenz zum Fliegen von einmotorigen Flugzeugen. Herr Mattson arbeitete 32 Jahre lang als Wartungsleiter bei GTE Sylvania und ging 1986 in den Ruhestand. Er war aktives Mitglied mehrerer Organisationen; New Gloucester Historical Society, Finnish American Society, lebenslanges Mitglied der Disabled American Veterans, King Hiram Council in Royal and Select Masters, King Solomon's Temple in den Royal Arch Masons, eine Doppelmitgliedschaft in der Cumberland Lodge 12 in New Gloucester und der St. George Masonic Lodge 16, wo er Past Master und 50 Jahre lang Mitglied war. Herr Mattson war ein begeisterter Jäger und Fischer. Er unternahm noch 2002 eine jährliche Jagdreise. 1997 schoss er am selben Tag einen Elch wie seine älteste Tochter Barbara. Herr Mattson war in New Gloucester als "Mr. Fix It" bekannt, obwohl er aufgrund von Makuladegeneration gesetzlich blind war. Er baute viele Dinge, wie fünf Garagen rund um Gray und New Gloucester, Picknicktische, die überall in New Gloucester verteilt waren, Krimskrams und Möbel, die aus dem Blickfeld verschwanden, während sein Sehvermögen sich verschlechterte. Er baute sein eigenes Haus, in dem er und seine Frau in New Gloucester in den Ruhestand gingen. Er liebte den Wald und schnitt und spaltete jede Saison neun Schnur Holz für seine Familie. Herr Mattson war stets ein sorgloser Mensch, der bei jedem, dem er begegnete, einen bleibenden Eindruck hinterließ – als begeisterter Gesprächspartner und Geschichtenerzähler. Er war ein hingebungsvoller Ehemann seiner Frau Bernys Overlock, die er am 28. Februar 1948 heiratete, und ein hingebungsvoller Vater für seine Kinder. Seine wöchentliche Familienroutine umfasste unter der Woche Kaffee mit seinem Schwiegersohn David und am Wochenende mit seiner Tochter und seinem Schwiegersohn Kurt. | 5050 | Portland, ME - Ida Mae Ramsdell, 56, of Portland died peacefully on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at the Barron Center in Portland. She was the wife of the late William Cosgrove Jr. She was born in Eastport, ME on December 24, 1960 a daughter of the late Hazen L. & Lorraine M. (Cook) Ramsdell. Ida grew up in Windsor Locks, CT and graduated from Springfield College with a Bachelor’s in Human Services. Ida dedicated her life to social work; hold several jobs for non-profit organizations in CT helping the disabled, the deaf, woman after being released from prison and doing intake for addiction, among others. She also volunteered her time for Vista Volunteers, which is a program that helps the deaf to read. She was also an avid New England Patriots fan, always routing for “her Patriots”. She is survived by four children, Amanda Weibring and her husband Joseph of Tacoma, WA, Stephen Ramsdell and his wife Mindy of Queens Creek, AZ, William Norris Cosgrove III of Ft. Walton Beach, FL and Corrine Cosgrove of Calais, ME. She also leaves eleven grandchildren Chad, Jakob, Stevie, Bree, Megan, Raven, Nevaeh, William IV “Beeb”, Rhianna, Brendon and Jocelyn as well as a sister Shirley Ramsdell of West Hartford, CT and a niece Laurel Newman of Boston, MA.
