Barbara Kent Hickey Pitcher passed away in Hamden on June 30, 2018. She was born on March 28, 1921 in New Haven to William John Hickey and Marion Louise Bradley, both of New Haven. She was extremely proud of both her parents heritages: Irish from her father and from her mother founders of New Haven Colony in 1638. She was a life long member of Center Church on the Green in New Haven and served there in numerous capacities, including years in the Ladies Home Missionary Society. For much of her life she was a member of, first Children of the American Revolution, and then Daughters of the American Revolution, Mary Clap Wooster Chapter. She received recognition for 75 years service a couple of years ago. She served there as Regent, Treasurer and Chaplin. She graduated from Hillhouse High School, class of 1937. She worked at Yale in the Treasurer's and Alumni records offices. In 1942 she married Donald Torrey Pitcher, also of New Haven, who died in 2006. They had 3 children: Susan Ellan Pitcher Haines (wife of late Philip), David Kent Pitcher and wife Pushpa and Steven Torrey Pitcher and wife Marjory. There are 5 grandchildren Joshua Haines and wife Heather, Seth Haines, the late Adam Pitcher, Barbara and Donna Pitcher. She also leaves 2 great grandsons, Henry and William Haines.
